Funding
Can you explain the station’s funding?
90% of the station’s operating budget comes from our community of listeners and business supporters with about 10% from the Seattle Public Schools district.
Community donations are the fuel that keeps our broadcast vibes alive. They power everything behind the scenes — from mics and headphones to our broadcast tower and streaming tech — and support the awesome team making it all happen.
Your donations also helps us train and mentor the next generation of creators, giving students hands-on experience in the art and engineering of broadcasting.

How do I update my membership or contact information?
You’ve got options:
- Log in to your account HERE to make your updates in just a few clicks.
- Never logged in before? Click HERE to fill out a quick form to request access — we’ll approve it within 1-2 business days and send you the green light by email. Need backup? Email membership@dance895.org or call 206.252.3800 and we’ve got you.
- Fresh Start. Start a new monthly donation and drop a note in the comments letting us know it’s replacing your current one. Easy switch, no stress!
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Absolutely!
DANCE 89.5 is owned by Seattle Public Schools but all fundraising revenue is managed by the c89.5/KNHC Public Radio Association, which is a 501(c)3 designated non-profit.
How do I request a receipt for my taxes?
You’ll get an email by January 31st with your annual tax receipt for last year’s donations. You can also view and download your receipts anytime in the donor portal.

How do I request a matching gift from my employer?
Search our employer match directory at dance895.org/giving/matching for instructions specific to your company.
NOTE: Be sure to have your employer match your donation to the c89.5/KNHC Public Radio Association, our partner 501(c)(3) non-profit. Their Tax ID (EIN) is: 20-5402402.
How do I make other changes to my membership, like communications preferences?
Easy! Just send an email to membership@dance895.org or call us at 206.252.3800.
If I renew my membership, can I request a new thank-you gift?
Yes!
Any time you donate to DANCE 89.5, you’re in line for one of the thank-you gifts available at that time, based on the value of your donation. Contact membership@dance895.org to request yours!
I donate once a year. How can I switch that to monthly?
Of course! Just start a new monthly donation. In the comments box, let us know you’re switching from one-time to monthly. Don’t forget to pick a thank you gift.

How does a monthly donation work?
Join DANCE 89.5 as a Monthly Donor using your bank account or card — quick, easy, done.
Your gift hits the same day each month and renews automatically (because you’ve got better things to think about).
Want to level up? Check if your employer offers payroll deduction — hello matching gifts, fewer fees, and zero card-expiration drama.

As a Monthly Donor, can I get an annual thank-you gift?
Yes, of course!

How do I update my credit card, expiration date, or other payment information?
There are three options for updating your payment information:
- Option 1: Log in to your account HERE to update your information.
- Option 2: If you’ve never logged in before, CLICK HERE to fill out a quick form to request access — we’ll approve it within 1-2 business days. We’ll send an email when your account gets the thumbs up. If you have trouble, email membership@dance895.org or call 206.252.3800.
- Option 3: Simply start a new monthly donation and, in the comments, let us know you would like this to replace your previous monthly donation.

Does DANCE 89.5 give out my address, email address, phone number or other personal data?
Nope. Not happening.
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information — period. Your info stays right here with us and will never be shared with outside commercial, political, marketing, or fundraising groups. Your privacy is locked down, always.
Will I be bombarded with mail or email?
Not with us.
You’ll stay in the loop with our bi-monthly news brief — your quick hit of what’s happening at DANCE 89.5. We’ll also drop you a reminder when it’s time to renew your annual membership or update your info.
When fundraiser season hits, you’ll get the inside track on special events, matching challenges, and exclusive thank you gifts..
And of course, we’ll send your annual donation statement for tax time — nice and easy, just the way it should be.
Is my financial information secure?
