We’re so proud of all that our talented and hard-working students (and alumni) accomplish!
In the late 1960’s, Larry Adams was a young innovative educator who wanted to give his students hands-on, real-world experience with the electronic concepts he was teaching. The result was a radio station-KNHC.
First awarded in 2024, the Larry Adams Academic Scholarship honors a student who spent a minimum of two semesters at DANCE 89.5 and, through an essay, audio, or video presentation demonstrates how their experience at the station impacted their life and informs their future.
We congratulate:
2026 | Emma Johnson, Jake Thoren & Araya Trujillo
2025 | Uly Smucker
2024 | Jack Geokezas & Gavin Kelly
Congratulations to DANCE 89.5’s own Sully B, a graduate of our Advanced Digital Media program here at Nathan Hale High School!
Sully won Best Podcast from the College Broadcasters, Inc. 2024 National Student Production Awards for “Get A Clue: The Adventures of Bruce Booker” which he produced in his senior year at DANCE 89.5.
Anomaly, a student co-host on DANCE 89.5 Mornings with Drew Bailey, received 1st place for her feature “Anomaly’s Phenomilies.”
The concept for Anomaly’s Phenomilies was dreamed up by Amelie, with Drew providing support, encouragement, and judicious editorial advice. The results: not only her 1st place prize, but the segment picked up sponsorship from the Museum of Flight.
